Does the number of sinusoids in an audio track affect the performance of a DAW?
I'm in the situation where a customer has a small computer, and an audio track that is being produced by DAW software has hundreds of sinusoids that are below 10 Hz. I'm wondering if the performance of the DAW would be adversely affected if I removed all of the sinusoids from the audio track.

Sinusoids are not so much a big issue for any of the DAWs I have used.
The real issue will be if there are a lot of noise and distortion effects added to the audio, and perhaps pitch shifting or fading in and out of note.
A side effect of doing this is that you will lose any LFOs that were applied to the instrument which is not a very good thing. You can work around this by filtering out the pitchshifted/faded audio, then undoing the filtering once the music is finished and you need to hear the instrument playing back normally again.
An added benefit is that if you pitch shift the audio to an octave higher/lower than the original instrument, your ears will tend to "catch up" to that note as it starts getting louder/lower in pitch, and vice versa.
If you don't do that, the DAW could be pitch shifting the audio every frame which makes the audio appear to be pretty jumpy if you're using a PC/Mac computer.

While all the other answers are correct, I think there's a more practical answer to the question here:
If you're using multiple tracks, you're going to have to have some way to refer to them in your audio.
The duration of an audio track cannot change.
So you either need to identify the tracks in your project somehow or do all of your processing in a single audio track with multiple instruments (or effects) in the same audio track.
If you're using an instrument or effect that uses pitch shifting as an effect, you may need to make sure that you're using the track(s) that track( 01e38acffe
